Mexican restaurant group Wahaca is dialling up the festive cheer this year and celebrating Christmas to the Mex from 22nd November to 31st December. Whether it’s street food feasts to share, delicious seasonal specials using some of the freshest, most sustainable ingredients around or a festive cocktail that’s fizzing with seasonal cheer – there’s something for everyone to enjoy this Christmas.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year for enjoying plenty of amazing food, and a visit to Wahaca this December promises exactly that. Taking culinary inspiration from both Mexico and Britain, the Turkey taquito (£6.50) combines roast turkey with smoky bacon, chestnut, sage and apricot stuffing in a crisp corn tortilla, topped with a sweet hibiscus salsa, fresh tomatillo guacamole and crema.

For a seasonal special that’s both plant-based and palate-pleasing, look no further than the Sweet romano pepper (£5.95). It’s a colourful and Christmassy vegan dish, roasted and filled with Riverford Organic squash, herb rice and olives and served with ancho relish and pumpkin seed mole. And, giving a Christmas classic a distinctly Mexican twist, the Mince pie empanadas (£6.50) are two crispy, sugar-coated parcels packed with luxurious mezcal-soaked mincemeat and served with brandy butter ice cream. Warming, festive and full of Mexican flavour!

The Festive Feast (£25 per person) for two sees classic street food favourites such as Pork pibil tacos and Buttermilk chicken tacos, both now made using free range British meat, joined by the Turkey taquito, Organic squash and crumbled feta tostadas, Sweet Romano pepper, Crispy cauliflower bites served with a trio of fresh salsas – finished off with the marvellously moreish Mince pie empanada. A Veggie Feast (£24 per person) is also available.

Raise a glass to festive cheer with the Christmas Bellini (£7.25) adds a touch of seasonal sparkle, mixing prosecco with fresh pomegranate and garnished with pomegranate seeds and a sprig of fresh rosemary.

Staying true to Wahaca’s sustainable principles by doing away with the waste paper and packaging created by traditional Christmas crackers, diners will be able to pull a Digital cracker over their festive feast this year. By scanning a QR code ‘cracker’ on their table, they’ll receive prizes ranging from freshly-shaken margaritas to delicious street food dishes. Much more of a win than the usual miniature sewing kits or toenail clippers – and with far less waste it’s much kinder to the environment.
