We popped in to Fonmon Castle today to meet the new owner and discuss his plans for the castle since purchasing it from Aliki Currimjee. The castle was previously owned by her father, Sir Brooke Boothby, and Aliki had inherited it from Sir Brooke after he’d decided to take a more leisurely path in life and had moved to a lovely house in Cowbridge.

We are very fond of Sir Brooke and the family. He is a cheeky chappie and always has a lovely, beaming smile – he was also a great ambassador of Vale Life and we very much appreciated his support. He always had a kind word for us and our son Jack met him a few times and thought he was an cool but eccentric country gentleman.

It’ll be interesting to see how the castle and Fonmon estate develops over the coming years and new owner Nigel seems to very keen to progress in a sensitive way but also opening things up to the local community. They have great plans.

Jennifer Hobbs-Roberts, Vale Life Editor, said, “I love Fonmon. We’ve attended many events there over the years and it’s been a fabulous location for some photo shoots. We wish Nigel and his team the very best. His plans sound really exciting for the Vale.”
