Autumn Fungi: Look But Don’t Touch

Fungi are fascinating. But you need to be super careful when foraging. Never consume unless you really know what you're doing.

If, like us, you’ve been out and about walking this autumn, you’ll have noticed an abundance of various fungi. It’s been one of those years.

It’s also been a great year for blackberries but, unlike, blackberries, you should be very careful if you’re thinking of consuming any. Our advice, leave well alone. Unless you’re out with an expert forager, it simply isn’t worth the risk. Some mushrooms and fungi can be deadly even though they look like safe-to-eat species, so it’s better admiring from a safe distance (we should all be used to that by now).

Anyway, here are a few snaps of some of our finds while out walking. We’re pretty sure these aren’t edible.

Do you love foraging?

Vale Life would love to hear from you. We do enjoy foraging ourselves but it’s always good to hear from enthusiastic amateurs or seasoned professionals.
