Vale Of Glamorgan Butchers

We do love a bit of meat at Vale Life and we make a point of shopping at our local butchers.

Notice I didn’t say “supporting our local butchers”. Well they don’t need “support”, what they need is our custom. After all, during Covid, they were there for us and our go-to when we simply couldn’t get out and stocks were running low at the supermarkets. How quickly we forget – so, yes, there’s that certainly one reason for making the effort to put a few orders their way.
Guilt trip aside, we use our local butchers for one very simple reason: we think the meat is better. We’ve tried supermarkets and they’re okay, but we find meat from our local butcher to be much better in flavour and consistency. Our local butchers also make a point, wherever possible, to source from local farms and suppliers. None of this South American junk meat imported into locations not too far away, hanging around for a brief holiday, while it gets relabelled as, well, you know, local-ish. Nope we don’t support that. If you really want the lowdown on where your meat comes from, talk to your butcher. We find ours very open and keen to provide that information.

Anyway, here is a list of butchers in the Vale of Glamorgan. We’ve also indicated which ones we’ve actually used so are happy to endorse.

So there you go. make a point of trying your local butcher if you don’t already. Yes, on a few things you’ll pay a little more, but we think the quality makes up for it. I would say on some things, they can actually be cheaper. Always worth a look. Personally, I’d rather eat better quality meat a little less often than something that I really have no idea where it’s come from – despite what it says on the pack.
