A Cardiff based, family-owned independent retailer specialising in fine footwear has been recognised by the British Footwear Association at its annual Footwear Industry Awards.
The Brogue Trader, owned and managed by father and son team, Chris and Keiron Macnamara, has been awarded New Independent Footwear Retailer of the Year for 2015.
The Brogue Trader opened in Cardiff’s beautiful Morgan Arcade just over a year ago and has been widely recognised as offering superb levels of customer service. Owner Chris, delighted with the shop’s runaway success, said: “Ultimately, our customers are our biggest critics, but the Footwear Industry Awards are especially important because winners are voted for by members of the footwear trade. It is a completely independent endorsement, and recognition of the success of our business, by our peers.”
As a keen motorcyclist, Chris was especially keen to attend the glittering gala dinner and awards ceremony as it was held at the National Motorcycle Museum near Birmingham. Chris added: “The awards provide essential publicity for small independent footwear retailers like ourselves. We’re very proud of this recognition and would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the other winners of their categories. It was a fabulous evening. The British Footwear Association put on a fantastic event.”
The Brogue Trader stocks some of the world’s finest footwear brands, and gentleman’s accessories, including Loake, Herring, Sebago, Joseph Cheaney and Oliver Sweeney. Chris also has plans to create a bespoke range of shoes under The Brogue Trader brand. Chris says: “Our first year has exceeded all our expectations, both financially and emotionally. I love shoes, I’m passionate about fine footwear and great service. I enjoyed a very successful sales career in the motor industry prior to opening The Brogue Trader which has been a dream come true. Winning New Independent Retailer of the Year 2015 has honestly been the icing on the cake, we’re so proud.”
Chris is also passionate about rugby and The Brogue Trader proudly sponsors the Cardiff Blues and is Official Footwear Supplier to the Welsh Rugby Union.
