We’ll drop the Vog Blog from the title now. You get the picture. If you want to search for Vog Blogs on here, just use the little search tool. They will be tagged so finding them shouldn’t be difficult.

It’s the first of July and some businesses are opening in Wales today. Others already have but, for a few, this will be them dipping their toes in the water for the first time in three months. What can you do to help? Shop. Simple as that. These businesses will have spent money in the weeks prior to reopening on social distancing, shields, signage, stock – you name, it all costs. Now all they need are customers. That’s where we/you come in.

Our good friend Chris Macnamara’s shops reopen today. The Brogue Trader is a brilliant, independent family business, so if you’re in the market for a decent pair of gentleman’s shoes, The Brogue Trader in Morgan Arcade, Cardiff should be on your shopping list.

Just up from there is Hawkes, owned by long time Vale Life advertiser Russell Scott-Lawson – another excellent independent offering the very best attire for all you style-driven chaps out there. Russell is your go-to for wedding suits, bespoke tailoring, shoes and accessories. You’ll receive nothing but impeccable service from both businesses and both Chris and Russell live in the Vale of Glamorgan and support local businesses themselves.

Incidentally, between these two fine businesses are two other great favourites of ours: Watches Of Wales and Crumbs. Click on the links to find out more about those. Not sure if they are open but if they are, pop in.

We wish all the independent well across Cardiff and the Vale. Please support them. Getting back to anything like normality will be challenging. You can help simply by spending a few pounds with them and encouraging others to do the same. It all helps.

Happy shopping.
