Thankfully dog grooming salons have now been deemed essential by our illustrious leader. That’s great news for dog owners in and around Rhoose in the Vale of Glamorgan. We chatted with owner of the popular salon Posh Pawz, Kath to find out more.

What rules apply to visiting and carrying out grooming?
Thankfully according to Welsh Government, leaving home to seek veterinary care for an animal is on the list of acceptable reasons for leaving your home during lockdown. Additionally, aesthetic purposes which should not be the purpose of your grooming appointment include: “creative grooming, facials, nail painting, and fur-dyeing,” The Pet Industry Federation (PIF) confirmed on their website.
What steps are you taking to ensure Covid rules are adhered to?
All social distancing and PPE rules apply, including staggered bookings, limiting the number of people allowed in the salon, enhanced cleaning, contactless payments and groomers wearing full PPE.
Do you have any testimonials on your services?
We have so many but here is just one from Helena Green and her fab pooch Gwen: “I took Gwen to posh Pawz as I wanted her to have a good experience at the groomers, as Gwen is a rescue dog, I was worried she would be too nervous, as she is not happy around people she doesn’t know. Kath suggested bringing her in for a few visits prior to her groom so she could get used to the salon environment”

We take our own 15-year-old dog Lucy to see Kath and she loves her time with her. We wouldn’t dream of trying to cut her nails ourselves but, as she’s been skidding on our wood block floors recently, we thought it was high time they got some much-needed attention. Lucy is getting on in dog years and loves her bit of pampering.
