Vale Life asked Headmaster Simon Antis, in his own words, to explain to students why he believes St Clare’s could be the right school for them.

Our best A Level results in ten years.
This year our Sixth Form students achieved 43% A*/A grades, 2% higher than last year. The number of students achieving an A grade has steadily increased over the last ve years to an impressive 37% (compared to 23% of students across Wales).

Not just value for money – “Added Value”!
We place great importance on our pupils’ value added performance. On average, every pupil attains 0.9 of a grade higher per subject by the end of A Level compared to the national average for a child of their ability. That’s an A grade instead of a B grade, or a B grade instead of a C grade.

Education today is a fundamental preparation for your future.
St Clare’s sixth form is the start of a journey of exploration leading to college, university or higher level employment. The majority of our senior school pupils progress into the sixth form and many join from other schools. We’ll offer you a broad range of subjects at A Level. This varies slightly each year depending on the interests of the cohort of pupils. We boast tremendous results in Textiles, Graphic Design and Fine Art. You’ll be taught in small tutorial-style groups and have your own common room and kitchen facilities with quiet areas set aside for independent study.

We’ll tailor your learning to meet your particular needs.
It’s your life, your future, so we’ll help you put together a programme of study that gets you where you want to go. At every stage, we’re here to listen, advise and support you in your choices. Every individual matters, within a school community proud of its high standards of behaviour and pastoral care, together with its team of well quali ed and dedicated staff. We have a fantastic record of success in Young Enterprise, Duke of Edinburgh, Young Consumer of the Year and sports which, combined with your studies, will enable you to learn about yourself, your strengths and capabilities, and about the world you live in.

Achieve. Challenge. Excellence.
We don’t want anything to come between you and your ambitions. If you’re having trouble managing your time or need guidance on revision, or help in any way, you’ll get the right support. The St Clare’s Sixth Form Team provides strong pastoral care to help achieve academic excellence and personal maturity. You’ll be expected to provide strong and positive examples to younger members of school, and there will be opportunities to lead, organise and manage others. This is seen as a valuable stage in your education.

A competitive edge in today’s global environment
We place a strong focus on languages and Spanish and French at A level and an opportunity to learn Italian to GCSE.

Are there Sixth Form scholarships?
