Given the prospect of imminent lockdown (if you’re reading this, the Covid19 coronavirus is doing its level best to spoil everyone’s fun), we decided to make a quick booking at Keyif for our lad’s 21st birthday. Being a Tuesday, Keyif wasn’t packed so our chances of transference of afore-mentioned virus were pretty low.
Service and food was up to Keyif’s usual excellent standard. And it was great to see Mehmet (the lovely owner) and the chaps in such high spirits – a little optimism and Dunkirk spirit goes a long way. Indeed, while we were there, several people came in to collect takeaways and other diners arrived.
How was the food?
Jack and I had calamari to start and that was perfect. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Faultless.
For main, Jennifer had a Ribeye steak with salad which she couldn’t finish (excellent portion size) and Jack went for the famous Keyif Lamb Ribs which he did disposed off fairly quickly. The steak wasn’t wasted as Keyif provided a doggy bag which ended up going nowhere near Lucy, the Vale Life Jack Russell – well, perhaps a little piece.
I also chose the Ribeye, and what a steak – perfectly cooked (beautifully pink inside) and that smoky taste combined with the beautifully creamy peppercorn sauce was just divine. I polished it all off with a few mini breathers along the way (did I say the portions are real value for money?). Sadly, there was no room for a dessert but Mehmet generously offered a few baclava for the table while we sipped our coffees.
