Forage Farm Shop & Kitchen will be opening its doors to customers on 29th June 2020 on Penllyn Estate Farm, just off the A48 near Cowbridge. Forage will offer customers across the region the opportunity to buy high quality, seasonal food. Much of what’s to be offered will originate from the Penllyn Estate itself, with a broad range of carefully selected local producers also supplying goods to the shop and restaurant. The mission is to provide fresh, delicious produce in a beautiful, newly constructed setting.

From 29th June, the shop will be fully open, with the coffee bar and restaurant serving delicious food and beverages on a takeaway basis. The click and collect (or delivery) service that has been running during the coronavirus pandemic will remain operational, with the range of products available online to be expanded in the very near future.

Managing Partner, Tom Homfray, said: “Forage will boast an exceptional butchers counter, seasonal vegetables grown on the Estate, eggs from the resident brood of free-range hens, a bakery, and over 2,000 lines of food, drink and other wares. Customers looking to purchase high quality ingredients will be able to seek advice and information from the staff, including the in-house butcher and chef, regarding anything from recipes to food traceability. The bar will be serving Coaltown Coffee, roasted and packed in Ammanford, plus an excellent range of other drinks.”

In due course, once government guidance permits and it is safe to do so, customers will be able to dine in and enjoy breakfast and lunch, as well as teatime treats, in the beautiful, contemporary restaurant. Menus will be refreshed regularly, with the head chef and butcher collaborating to design plates based on seasonal availability.

Designed by an award-winning architect to blend into the surrounding landscape, the beautiful timber-structured building is clad with Siberian larch and sits alongside a recently planted truffle orchard. The site boasts stunning views over the Thaw Valley.

Jennifer Hobbs-Roberts, Editor of Vale Life said: “The Vale of Glamorgan has been crying out for this kind of establishment. It’s location, just outside Cowbridge, means that it is almost central in the Vale so easily accessible to locals. The design of the building is quite breath-taking and completely in tune with the countryside surrounding it. We’re delighted to welcome a superb business of such quality launching on our doorstep. This will be a real asset to the Vale.”
