If recent events have shown us anything, if you’re fortunate enough to have a garden or a spare bit of space around your home, you can plant a few pots, flowers, plants and shrubs that will certainly lift your spirit.
It’s certainly true for us. We’ve been learning how to grow our own veg, and our window boxes, tubs and hanging baskets have never looked prettier.
When it comes to buying plants, we’re always searching for new places to browse so when we came upon Cross Farm Nursery, nestled away off the A48 near Pentre Meyrick, we were understandably excited.
Refreshingly, it’s not too big. If you’re looking for a coffee shop, and twenty outlet businesses, this isn’t it. It’s a gardener-friendly, compact and bijou nursery which sells just about everything you need to bring a sad garden back to life.
Cross Farm sell a lot of baby veg plants and an excellent selection of plants and flowers. From annuals and bedding to perennials and shrubs, you’ll find plenty to choose from. There a good selection of succulents and fruit trees too, plus a good range of manures.
We love browsing their poly-tunnels and we always find something special. There’s an excellent array of pots and plenty of advice should you need it.
Owner, Charlotte England says: “We’re a family business and, moreover, we’re keen gardeners. We love gardening as much as our customers.” While we were there we asked several ladies why they visit this particular nursery and they universally agreed it was “the quality of the plants”. Indeed, as we find on every visit, the plants are well watered and well fed so you’re virtually guaranteed to get them in the best possible condition, and this is especially important in summer.
So if you’re looking for a gardener-friendly nursery that’s open all year ‘round at the heart of the Vale, pop into Cross Farm, we think you’ll like it.
