Gemma Williams-Jones of View2Rent has recently celebrated ten years in business and enjoys an enviable reputation. We caught up with Gemma at the gorgeous new Harbour Bar and Restaurant to find out more.

When was View2Rent established?
I set up View2Rent in 2007 from our little spare bedroom in our first home and within 12 months I opened our first office on Lias Road. As much as I enjoyed our eight years there, I felt it was time to move on, so in May this year, we opened our new office in Porthcawl’s main street. Since moving there, the feedback we’ve had has been fantastic, we absolutely love being on John Street.

Why Porthcawl?
I’ve lived in Porthcawl all my life and absolutely love it, My family have lived in Porthcawl since 1930 and been in business here since 1954. My sister has her own boutique The Closet and my brother also has his own business David Evans Garden & Home Improvements, it’s a very proud feeling after all these years as a family we are still in business in our lovely town. Porthcawl has so much to offer with independent businesses, restaurants and bars and the beautiful beaches. No wonder people come for miles to visit. It’s such a lovely town to live in.

Who is in the office with you?
There are four of us at present. Myself, my husband Sam, Karen is our lettings negotiator and does a fantastic job, Ali has recently joined us and is doing so well at managing all the accounts. They are wonderful members of the team and I’d be lost without them. Plus, we are very fortunate to be able to work with other local professionals, from plumbers to electricians, carpenters and builders, and we count them all as very much part of the View2Rent team.

We have always aimed to use local and reputable tradesmen so we can support other independent businesses.

Congratulations on your ten year anniversary…
Thank you. I really can’t believe how quickly time has gone, I’ve welcomed two amazing little boys in that time too, ten years has just own by but I’ve loved every second. My grandmother and my dad kindly gave me a gift which enabled me to set up the business. Sadly, my grandmother passed away in 2010 but I know she would be very proud of what I have achieved and how far View2Rent has come and she would have absolutely adored my children.

What does View2Rent offer clients?
A very honest and reliable service. We are a fully licensed and accredited agency specialising in residential lettings and property management.

Being independent allows us to offer a more bespoke and personal service to our clients. Being local means that we know the area really well and have the working knowledge of the community, local features and amenities.

What do you think sets View2Rent apart?
That personal touch, we are very proud to be family run and independent. Our clients tell us that they like the friendly, relaxed atmosphere we offer and feel that they can trust us with their needs. When I started the business in 2007 I made a promise to always deliver a highly professional service based on honesty and integrity, and I like to think that’s what I’ve done.

It’s easy to say this is what we do, this is what we can offer you, but to be able to actually deliver that service, go above and beyond peoples’ expectations and see the results is something else.

Being the size that we are and the way that we run the business also means that I know every landlord and tenant very well, I have built up a working relationship with each and everyone, if a client needs to speak to me they know they can walk in to the of ce at any time and see me, that relationship is so important to have.

I think our Facebook reviews say a lot about how we run as a family business. We always aim to provide help and support not just a service. Plus, we make great coffee!
