The Return Of The Dog Walkers On Barry Island

October the 1st marks the return of the dog walkers to the beaches on Barry Island. “It’s always lovely to see the dogs back on the beaches and most dog owners clear up after their walks,” says Marco Zeraschi (owner of the famous Marco’s café.

They’re certainly good for business, and we can certainly count ourselves as regular customers of the cafes at this time of year.

Whether you own a dog or not, Barry Island is one of the loveliest places to walk and people watch during the autumn. If the sun is shining, it’s even better. Jennifer Hobbs-Roberts, Editor, said, “The Island is very much home from home for me. I grew up in Barry and one of my first jobs as a teenager was working in a café on Barry Island so it has a very special place in my heart. When the sun is shining, there is no better place.”

There’s a feature on Barry Island in the autumn issue of Vale Life inspired by the return of Gavin & Stacey in a Christmas Special on BBC1 – we believe it will be aired on Christmas day.

There is plenty of free parking and if it is busy, there are plenty of spaces in the car parks and they’re not too pricey.
