Hensol Castle, the four-star luxury venue within the estate of the Vale Resort, triumphed over the competition from nine other Welsh venues across the country at the Welsh Wedding Awards 2018, held at the Exchange Hotel in Cardiff.

With each category voted for by the Welsh public, the awards aim to celebrate the hard work and commitment of those in the wedding industry and recognise those who go above and beyond to make the big day as special as possible, such as photographers, cake designers and bands.

Stephanie Metson, marketing manager at the Vale Resort, said: “Hensol Castle is a truly unique venue that newlyweds have described as ‘breath-taking’, largely because it embraces everything that a fairy tale wedding should be. Its gothic towers, majestic turrets and hand-painted vaulted ceilings set the tone for an unforgettable wedding – who wouldn’t want to get married in their own private castle overlooking a 15-acre serpentine lake?

“Winning the accolade of ‘Romantic Venue of the Year’ at the Welsh Wedding Awards is an outstanding achievement and a testament to the hard work of our staff across Hensol Castle and the Vale Resort. It’ll mean even more to them to know it is the public who voted too.

“Hensol Castle has a been a labour of love that has taken more than 10 years to complete with £10m invested into its refurbishment – the last stage being an 80-cover destination restaurant and the addition of 30 boutique bedrooms. We’re confident that the reputation it has achieved over the last two years, bolstered by its final development stage, will cement our offering as a premier wedding destination to couples in the UK, as well as internationally.”
