Cowbridge Art Exhibition

It’s Thursday 16th November and I just happened to be strolling through Cowbridge on my way to the bank (NatWest as it happens, Barclays hardly ever opens in Cowbridge these days).

20171116_144121On my way back I noticed there is an art exhibition on at the Old Hall and, I believe, it has been organised by Cowbridge Art Society.

My experience of local art groups is generally one of disappointment; enthusiastic but talentless triers basically having a go.

Not so here. There are some truly exceptional pieces on display. I have a few firm favourites among the acrylics and oils but one lady’s work really caught my eye – Sandra Wintle (I hope I’ve remembered her name correctly. One gorgeous portrait and a few abstract landscapes are, for me, the stars of the show.

20171116_144148Apparently, the exhibition is on until the 9th December 2017 but, I am reliably informed, may be extended.

Also, note that pieces are being sold so the exhibition is changing as the days go by. Cowbridge is well worth a visit if you’re a foodie – throw in some decent art and you’ve got a reason not to be bored for a few hours over the next two or three weeks.

While in Cowbridge…
Check out the excellent Happy Days Vintage Homestore – great cakes, good tea and coffee and plenty of stalls to browse through. I’ve found some real gems there over the years.
